Michael Orr morr at cambridgema dot gov

About the Presenter

Michael Orr is Director of Recycling for City of Cambridge and his role includes encouraging trash reduction and enforcing waste regulations. Two of the largest challenges they face are: Encouraging residents to recycle and compost, while ensuring that it is easy for residents of multiple language backgrounds to sort their waste properly. Promoting as many residents to compost as possible, as the challenge lies in the high cost to purchase compostable bags to participate in the program. Alternative low-cost options aren’t available or aren’t ideal in the processing of the food waste.
